Manual Proxy Configuration - Internet Explorer

Users can manually specify Rainmail Proxy Server in their proxy settings. Once done, the Web browser will use Rainmail Proxy and access the Internet. In this section, we will see the steps for configuring Proxy manually in Internet Explorer (v8) running on a Windows 7 system:

  1. Start Internet Explorer by selecting Start -> All Programs -> Internet Explorer from Windows.
  2. In the window that comes up, select Tools from the menu and select Internet Options. In the dialog that comes up, select Connections tab. That will bring up the following dialog.

  1. Click on LAN settings button. That will bring up the following dialog.

  1. In the above dialog, select Use automatic configuration script and specify Address as http://Rainmail Server IP/wpad.dat. For example, if your Rainmail Server IP is 192.168.1.4, specify Address as http://192.168.1.4/wpad.dat. You can get Rainmail Server IP from Get User Profile from Email address
  2. Click on OK to close dialog.
  3. Click on OK to close dialog.
  4. Now Internet Explorer will use Rainmail Proxy server to access Internet.
